James Weinberger, MD.

Dr. James Weinberger is a urologic surgeon who specializes in male reproductive medicine and fertility, genitourinary reconstructive surgery, and sexual medicine. He is training with Dr. Bastuba to become part of an elite group (2%) of urologists who perform advanced microsurgery for the treatment of male infertility. He is also working with Dr. Irwin Goldstein, considered the forefather of the field of sexual medicine for both men and women.

Dr. Weinberger was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He studied Chemistry and Psychology at Duke University, where he graduated magna cum laude. At Duke, he played cornerback for the NCAA Division 1 Men’s Football team. He earned a dual degree MD, MBA at UCLA's David Geffen School of Medicine and Anderson School of Management. He was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha as well as the MBA Honor Society.

He has published over 20 peer-reviewed journal articles and over 40 abstracts for presentation at national conferences. His research has focused on increasing patient access for healthcare; in residency, he was awarded a $25,000 research grant for exploring telemedicine as an avenue to improve care for patients with overactive bladder. Dr. Weinberger was also the medical co-founder for OptionsMD, a Techstars Incubator telemedicine startup aimed at personalizing care for patients with treatment-resistant depression.

Dr. Weinberger is passionate about teaching and mentorship. During his residency, he was awarded the Excellence in Teaching with Humanism award, the 2024 Willard E. Goodwin Resident Teaching award, as well as the Guy Dalla Riva award, given to the resident most able to combine clinical skills, research, and compassion.

Dr. Weinberger joined the Male Fertility team in August, 2024 and is greatly appreciated for his medical and surgical skillset.
